To All,
Does anyone know of a group or a person who can speak with my son regarding Assistive Technology?
He was recently diagnosed with LBLD - dyslexic and auditory temporal processing disorder. He has decreased sensory input in his fingers. He will need help with textbook reading, taking notes without writing, methods of studying, methods of writing papers that incorporate both text to verbal and verbal to text, time organization and what ever else.
He attends one of the "best" schools in RI. They have come up with the Dragon at my insistance but did not provide much training.
They refuse Recordings for the Dyslexic and Blind because reading is his "strength". Obviously, they also refused instruction in reading because those with dyslexia find a "different way" to read by themselves.
Thank goodness for Landmark College's summer program. He realizes that he has intelligence.
Please, if anyone has had a successful comprehensive eval. by a person knowledgeable and supportive in complex learning disabilities, let me know. He will be a senior so time is running out. I am willing to travel to Ct and Ma.
Another option is someone knowledgeable who will spend the time with my son so that my son can become a stronger self advocate for these needs.
Thank you
Tia |

My son is a high school student who uses assistive technology both in and out of school. He may be able to offer suggestions to your son. He writes a blog that is all about assistive technology for struggling readers and writers. "Www.bdmtech.blogspot.com"
You can also email him at bdmtechnology@gmail.com |
