Welcome to YCDC's "Inside Scoop", a place where you can gain insights from others

| Re: "straight up" dyslexia: Just wanted to say if you get the right tutor (and we used the Wilson program) one on one 3x a week after school for two full years. Thats what it took, not a total cure but tremendous progress... Don't want to tell you what it cost, oh well, I will, (about $100 an hour!) but after we did the first year the school paid for the second year. We tried several tutors and programs but finally settled on someone who we just knew would get the job done despite the higher price. I took on a job that paid $12 an hour and thats where the money went. In addition lots and lots of books on tapes and cd and homework help. I feel like 60% of my parenting time was about reading and educating. But I have a happy high schooler now, looking at colleges. |
