Post subject: Eye Tracking Therapy Posted: Mon Jun 29, 2009 10:47 am |

My son is preparing for the SSAT and the tutor notice some skipping of syllables and vocabulary scoring lower than his intelligence (gifted IQ) and verbal conversation suggests. She suggested seeing an opthamologist that tests and then recommends if necessary eye tracking therapy to get him to his potential in reading to rule out any issues. The Dr. recommended is Dr. Carl Gruning in Southport who is apparently well-known for this.
We have some dyslexia reading issues in our family. This child has never exhibited this and read at an early age, but reading is always his lower score(but usually still in above average range). Does exceptionally well in math.
While reading is his weaker area, a learning disability has not been suggested. We are open to helping, but also realize that kids are different and with different strenghts. DOes anyone recommend this or know of scientific evidence that supports this therapy? |
