Hello,
I am embarking on an electrician apprenticeship in my first year. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in 2nd grade. I am now 24. I have been able to overcome my disability during grade school and high school maintaining an A- average. However, my problem is specific and I think rare. I will switch the last two numbers. For instance, if i solve an algebra problem and the answer is 19.96, I will write 19.69. I am wondering how I can overcome this issue: Are there any cognitive exercises I can perform to help me? I've read about dyslexia; however, I do not fit the typical profile.
Thank you |

I think the nick for it is Numeric-Dyslexia. It is more common than you may think though frustratingly there isn't as much help or information about it out there! It is quite common and there are some simple tests your doctor can go through with you, to determine weither or not this is the reason. Also it is quite common for people to have these symptoms when experiancing alot of stress, anxiety or extreme tiredness. As you mentioned this is happening alot when you are at work or studying as part of your apprenticeship i wouldn't rule out any of these as a reson.
I hope this helps! |
