Inquiring minds want to know!
Welcome to YCDC's "Inside Scoop", a place where you can gain insights from others
in the dyslexia community and share your experiences. Tell us about what reading programs
worked for you, your child, or your students. Pose a question to the community; tell us
about schools using thoughtful and effective methods for supporting dyslexic students; tell us
about places and programs that might be overrated. We hope that postings will be constructive
and helpful to others. We reserve the right to remove material. We will not post contact
information, but ask that you leave your email address. The Center may wish to follow up

Hello: We live in France, near Geneva and our 8 year old son has had a horrible time trying to learn French in the French school system. We have been here since June, 2009 (Canadian and American). We knew he has "processing issues" but was only recently diagnosed as dyslexic. In any case, we agreed with the team of pros who gave the diagnoses (psychologist, neurologist and speech and lang. therapist at HUG pediatric hospital in Geneva) that he needed to be withdrawn from his French school right away and homeschooled until we can find an international English school for him (the price at which I am despairing and wondering how we're going to pay for it). In any case, I am writing to ask if anyone has tried Toe by Toe remedial reading method out of the UK. We are on day 2 of using it...and fingers crossed.
Best,
Carla |
